Carlin on Environmentalists

I remember seeing George Carlin at the Valley Forge Music Fair in the mid-nineties. And although George was a liberal, he was consistent in exposing b.s. whenever he saw it, no matter who was shoveling it.

He was one comic who, unlike a lot of today's Comedy Central frauds, didn't have an agenda attached to his work. His shows were intelligent and irreverent.

When so much of today's political agenda seems centered around environmentalist hysteria, here's how Carlin saw the threat we humans have to the planet.

Palin Gets It

I realize I am late to the Sarah Palin for Vice President bandwagon. However, the more I hear, the more I like the possibility of Alaska's Governor joining the McCain ticket. Although, I still want to hear/see more of Bobby Jindal before I make a final decision.

Monday, Governor Palin sent this letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid which outlines why we must start domestic drilling for oil.

Sarah clearly understands the issue and could perhaps teach McCain a thing or two about the topic. As the last paragraph of her letter states...

If we don't move now to enact an energy policy that includes more oil and gas production from domestic sources, including ANWAR and the federal OCS [Outer Continental Shelf], we may look back someday and realize that we failed to perceive a critical crossroad in the history of this nation.

Say What?

Front page, Section C, Philadelphia Inquirer, today, June 23, 2008...

PROGRESS IN IRAQ - As violence wanes, growing popular sentiment in Iraq suggests a more stable and peaceful future.

The lead story is by columnist Kevin Ferris who calls his column "Back Channels". The money quote...

It seems Iraqis have decided that al-Qaeda, not America, is the "foremost enemy." That al-Qaeda, not America, had come to fight the people of Iraq. That al-Qaeda, not America, was the enemy of Muslims and their holy places.

You might hope such good news to be on the front page of section A. I suppose the Back Channels and obscure blogs are all it deserves. At least it being printed - that's a start.

Top Ten - High Gas Prices

This article by American Thinker summarizes the series of events which lead to $4 a gallon gas. Unless we reverse these trends, today's prices will seem like a bargain in the not-so-distant future.

It's further evidence that 'Democrat solutions' are nothing more than an oxymoron.

Habeas Corpus for Osama?

When the Supreme Court ruled that terrorists at Guantanamo could appeal their cases before civilian courts, giving them the same rights as American citizens, one might think outrage would be expressed by both Presidential candidates. However, the truth is quite the opposite.

According to Bill Sammon of the Examiner, Barack Obama advisors John Kerry and Richard Clark (former Clinton terror Czar) said earlier this week that the decision allows Bin Laden to enjoy the same rights as American citizens and the move to criminal prosecution of terrorists will help make America safe.

Barry used the prosecution of those responsible for the 1993 World Trade Center attacks as an example of criminal prosecution working, stating,

"They are currently in prison, incapacitated."

The inexperienced one is showing further signs of being clueless. Barry forgets that despite the prosecution of the 'criminals' for the '93 bombing, terrorists still proceeded with their attacks on U.S. interests.

However, when the Bush administration changed course and decided to take the fight to the terrorists, the attacks suddenly ceased. Coincidence? I think not.

It's just one more example why Obama should never be commander-in-chief.

Democrats Souring on the Messiah?

Just in case you thought the Democrats would rally behind Barack Obama now that he's secured enough delegates to earn the nomination, there's news of some in his party casting doubt on his candidacy.

The Huffington Post reported Friday that Democrat leaders in Tennessee are worried about Barry's potential ties to terrorism.

First there was Reverend Wright, then Bill Ayers and the Weather Underground, then Barry's inability to work without a teleprompter, and now claims by Dem party leaders about Obama's potential link to terrorist?

With 10 weeks to go until their Convention, Barry's Change and Hope tour isn't gaining the kind of momentum one would have expected.

Father's Day at Pocono

Unless you've been behind the wheel of a stock car, there is no way to appreciate what NASCAR drivers go thru weekly to earn their living. If you think these rednecks just like to turn left, you'd be as ignorant as you believe they are.

Yesterday I learned first-hand what it's like to sit behind the wheel of an 800 horsepower machine. Getting used to the power was the easy part. Having the nerve to drive it hard into turn one, slightly more difficult.

One goal was to maintain 4 car lengths from the car in front of you - a task much easier said than done. The other, no flags or warnings from the flag man atop the start/finish line. Mission there, accomplished. I maxed out at 8200 RPM, which equals roughly 162 MPH, on my final run down the front stretch.


I can't imagine too many ways to spend Father's Day, better than this one. Not a bad mid-life-crisis birthday gift from my wife either. Thanks honey!
